About The Position

The Benton County finance department is seeking a Budget Manager to join our team. The Budget Manager is responsible for supervising the Budgeting Team, consisting of four budget analysts, within the Financial Services Department. The Budgeting Team leads the development, monitoring and analysis of the adopted budgets for the County and County Service Districts, and ensures compliance with all county, state, and federal budget requirements. The position also performs complex analysis and technical work related to countywide financial and budget activities; conducts countywide revenue and expenditures trend analyses; develops and manages revenue forecasting methodology and models, interprets legal and policy restrictions on resource used; and identifies opportunities and risks to county’s budget. The work and recommendations of this position and the team it manages provides the basis for budgetary financial decisions that impact the entire county.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
  • Seven years of governmental accounting/budgeting experience.
  • Three years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Authority to hire, terminate, assign, reward and discipline other employees.
  • A cover letter is required to be submitted with the application for this position.
  • Must complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.
  • Requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Municipal accounting/budgeting experience with a similar-sized organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the Budgeting Team, consisting of four budget analysts.
