Budget & Management Grants Administrator
About The Position
Bring your expertise to Wake County and help shape opportunities for our community as a Budget and Management Grants Administrator! As a Budget and Management Grants Administrator, you help direct and strengthen the County's grant planning and monitoring program. You partner across departments to drive strategic outcomes by shaping countywide policies and practices. Working alongside the County’s Grants Team, you power the full lifecycle of grant administration, updating policies and procedures, delivering dynamic employee training and providing hands-on technical assistance. You will lead the ongoing evolution of the County’s grants program to maximize funding, advance key countywide initiatives and deliver the support leadership needs to serve our fast-growing community. In this role, you will: Lead the ongoing development of County grant policies and procedures, assess program impact, interpreting funder requirements, create solid budgets and support departments in crafting competitive proposals Review County grant applications to ensure they align with strategy, meet funder guidelines and move smoothly through the County Manager's approval process Co-manage the grant lifecycle with the Finance Department to ensure accurate tracking and closure, aligning grant activities directly with countywide budgetary and operational goals Provide coordinated support and training to department staff on County policies, procedures, grant application development, evaluation, budgeting, monitoring and reporting requirements Maintain clear communication channels to share grant activity with departments and County leadership Coordinate with awarding agencies to stay current on evolving grant requirements Support the County Manager’s Office, Board of Commissioners and departments on high-impact special projects, including securing Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS/CPF) funding and advancing the County’s nonprofit capacity-building initiatives This meaningful work helps maximize grant funding opportunities to improve outcomes for residents and employees. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration or a related field
- Four years of experience in finance, budgeting, policy or management analysis with grant management or development exposure
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Nice To Haves
- Experience with federal or state grants
- Experience contributing to cross-department initiatives or enterprise projects
- Additional grant administration certification or professional development is preferred. Examples include, but are not limited to, Grant Professional Certified (GPC) and Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS)
- Ability to work as a self-starter, assess requirements, develop plans that engage partners, and ensure work is completed on time
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and thoughtfully, with awareness of the audience
- Ability to build solid working relationships across departments and solve problems collaboratively
- Ability to apply sound judgment, logic, and reasoning to identify solutions and analyze alternatives
