About The Position

Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Budget & Financial Operations Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Budget, Financial Planning, and Analysis, the Budget & Financial Operations Specialists supports strategic decision-making and financial stewardship at Franklin & Marshall College. This position serves as the primary operational contact and partner for campus budget managers. This role processes entries, generates campus-wide reports, and delivers continuous training, freeing strategic bandwidth for long-term institutional modeling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or planning.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Proficiency with Excel and experience with financial systems.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree (MBA, MPA, or related field).
  • Experience with Banner.
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with fund accounting and institutional budget models.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for campus departments regarding budget inquiries, line-item transfers, and routine balance reconciliations.
  • Prepare, verify, and execute budget adjustments, journal entries in alignment with institutional compliance.
  • Analyze complex financial data and trends to support budget development, variance analysis, and institutional reporting.
  • Design and conduct onboarding and ongoing budget training for new and existing budget managers to ensure compliance with college financial policies.
  • Conduct variance analyses and assist the Director with data gathering for strategic initiatives and forecasting.
  • Provide analytics for institutional initiatives, including new academic programs, facilities planning, resource allocations and realignments.
  • Lead and support special projects, including cost-benefit analyses, benchmarking studies, and scenario planning.
  • All other duties as assigned.
