About The Position

A Bucket Truck Operator assists with clearing and removing trees along electrical power lines and rights-of-way. The role operates an aerial lift device (bucket truck) to reach branches interfering with electric lines. The operator also uses chainsaws, pruners, brush chippers, and may be called upon to climb trees using climbing equipment. Duties may change with or without notice.

Requirements

• Be semi-skilled in mechanics.
• Be proficient in proper tree groundwork, including basic tree pruning and tree removal.
• Pass a proficiency test consisting of climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance.
• Understand the safe handling and operation of chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders.
• Hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record under Company requirements.
• Have knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Be able to problem solve.
• Meet all physical requirements of the position.
• Pass drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, DOT regulations.
• Be at least 18 years old, or 21 if a CDL is required.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices and rules while clearing and trimming trees and brush away from utility lines.
• Spray brush and stumps, applying herbicides properly and selectively.
• Operate and service equipment and tools, including hydraulic tools, power tools, buckets, chippers, and sprayers.
• Perform tree and bucket rescue.
• Train new personnel.
