About The Position

Cascadia Health’s internships are for individuals interested in careers in community-based integrated healthcare. Internships are designed to provide mentorship, experiential learning, opportunities to develop new skills, and exposure to nonprofit management. Some interns will have specific job roles while others will have project-based responsibilities. While interns work under the direction of a single supervisor, they may have the opportunity to work with people throughout the agency. As an intern, you’ll have: Cascadia orientation Exposure to various departments/divisions within Cascadia Access to training and workshops on topics including De-escalation & Crisis Intervention, Culturally Responsive Care, and Trauma-Informed Care.

Requirements

  • All internships must be formally established with a university/college/training program via an affiliation agreement/contract with Cascadia.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check (CBC): Interns shall receive a Criminal Background Check (CBC) through Oregon's Department of Human Services via Cascadia's People & Culture Department (at no cost to student).
  • Placement at Cascadia is contingent upon submission of results of required CBC.
  • Prior to receipt of a student's final fitness determination, if students receive preliminary approval, they may be engaged in orientation, training and work activities that do not include unsupervised contact with those receiving services.
  • Students disqualified by DHS/Background Check Unit (BCU) will be immediately disengaged from placement.
  • The student's placement may be reinstated if an appeal is processed by DHS/BCU and the disqualification is reversed.
  • Follow and adhere to Cascadia's confidentiality requirements, including the federal Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Cascadia's client confidentiality policies, including any and all applicable Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) and Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) which support client confidentiality.
  • If accepted into an intern position, complete Cascadia's onboarding process, including agency orientation and student/intern documentation.
  • The applicant must demonstrate a commitment to helping underserved members of our communities.
