About The Position

Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 26,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. The Bronco Student Center (BSC) Operations team is one of the largest departments in all ASI. Operations consist of two teams that oversee games room, building and patron safety and providing outstanding customer service to our patrons. Operation’s primary function is to keep the building open and operational but also plays a large role in enhancing the facility through operating the Games Room, event support and as well as improving the overall functionality of the building. Operations provides an excellent opportunity to be a part of a large community of fellow student employees as well as develop a strong network through day-to-day interactions with colleagues and patrons. POSITION DEFINITION Under direct supervision from the BSC Operations Manager, the BSC Operations Attendant provides frontline services in support of daily operations in the Bronco Student Center (BSC) including, but not limited to, event setup assistance and breakdown, games room equipment checkout, and floor support. This position works on campus. Must be available to attend mandatory department-wide and position-specific training.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification (Employment contingent on obtaining certification within 30 days of hire, training provided by ASI)
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain professional work conduct
  • Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations
  • Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications in use
  • Ability to successfully pass a background screening as an offer of employment is contingent on background clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in customer support, recreation, or similar environment, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with facilitating the BSC’s day-to-day operations
  • Assists with implementation of operational strategies
  • Enforces rules and regulations regarding BSC use
  • Maintains Games Room and BSC equipment and furniture functionality, cleanliness and operation
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required in a calm and effective manner
  • Presents a professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service
  • Reports basic facility maintenance and custodial needs
  • Completes appropriate activity reports
  • Assist with Conference and Events with event support
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
