The Brown Bag Driver is responsible for fulfilling grocery orders for the East Bay Mercy Brown Bag Program in Oakland, serving senior recipients through various partner organizations. This role typically involves delivering in bulk or setting up farmers' market-style distributions at 2-5 sites per day. The driver will curate pallets with 12-15 food items per site, load, unload, and operate 20-foot box trucks and mobile farmers market vehicles for daily grocery deliveries. Excellent customer service is expected, including coordinating with partner site staff and volunteers for efficient distribution setup. The driver will also collaborate with site coordinators to manage recipient tracking and maintain accurate inventory records, acting as a professional ambassador for the Mercy Brown Bag program. Protecting program assets through proper handling of trucks, food, and property, and promptly reporting any damage or incidents are key responsibilities. Ensuring vehicles are equipped with required documentation and emergency equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the warehouse and vehicles according to various regulations are also essential. The role may involve assisting with site inspections and attending in-service training, staff meetings, and special events.
