About The Position

The Brood Technician in Training is a vital role in ensuring the success of Riverence Brood LLC. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent record-keeping skills. The Technician will be responsible for daily tasks such as feeding, mortality counting, and screen scrubbing. They must also demonstrate a thorough understanding of the farm workflow, biosecurity protocols, and safety measures. The ability to recognize and address potential hazards is essential. This physically demanding role operates in an outdoor farm environment, and occasional lifting of heavy loads is required. The ideal candidate will have aquaculture experience or a related degree, but a high school diploma and basic math skills are the minimum requirements. The Brood Technician in Training will play a crucial role in contributing to the success of the farm and promoting company values such as initiative, encouragement, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily duties or chores and husbandry activities including: Feeding, mortality removal/counting, screen scrubbing, etc.
  • Understands and completes jobs on daily worklist.
  • Understand farm workflow including weekly schedules and activity of others.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify sections, pond numbers, rearing areas, fish barriers, general fish flow through facility, influent and effluent, and explain importance.
  • Ability to locate and use the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Exhibit dependable, trustworthy and consistent behaviors and demonstrates understanding of role on farm.
  • Understand and follows feed schedule.
  • Demonstrate the uses, locations, and importance of facility equipment including vehicles, winches, nets, hammers/wedges, screens, etc. and the ability keep clean and organized, and recognize potential hazards.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and identifies potential farm hazards and safety hazards around farm.
  • Recognize and explain significance of pond hygiene including manure build-up, wasted feed, cleaning and hygiene practices, cleaning of head and tail ditches and take necessary actions to correct or mitigate issues.
  • Ability to identify and explain meaning and significance of withdrawal tags and non-feed treatment withdrawls.
  • Demonstrate understanding of feed application including use of demand feeders and potential issues, when to hand feed, and how often to feed.
  • Demonstrate ability to access Safety Data Sheets and understands and explain their use.
  • Follow biosecurity protocols including disinfection of equipment and separation of rearing areas and/or farms. Exhibit ability to address biosecurity by maintaining proper cleanliness and dosage/strength of footbaths and net disinection buckets/sprayers.
  • Actively promotes farm cleanliness including rearing areas (screens, roadways, etc.), office and surrounding farm areas and care of vehicles, equipment and PPE.
  • Exhibit knowledge and uderstanding of company values including initiative, encouragement and innovation.
  • Exhibit open communication with supervisors.
  • Work in other site areas as directed.
