About The Position

The Broiler Technician (Serviceman) provides field service and technical support to contract broiler farms. The role ensures growers follow company standards for animal welfare, bird health, housing conditions, biosecurity, and production efficiency. The technician routinely visits farms, evaluates flock performance, resolves issues, and serves as the main liaison between growers and the live production team. The position includes farm inspections, flock monitoring, sample collection, vaccination, recordkeeping, and coordination with management and other service technicians. It also requires maintaining professional relationships with contract producers, complying with safety and biosecurity policies, attending mandatory classroom training, and maintaining a company vehicle. The technician must adapt to program changes caused by weather, disasters, or disease, and may be assigned additional duties.

Requirements

A valid driver’s license is required.
No prior poultry experience is required.
General knowledge of animal husbandry practices is preferred.
Ability to perform basic math calculations, read graphs, sort data, and solve practical problems.
Ability to follow instructions, manage time wisely, work independently, and plan schedules.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone and write routine reports.
Computer proficiency with programs such as Excel and Word.
Legible writing skills.
Ability to tolerate inconsistent start and stop times and perform postmortem examinations.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
General knowledge of animal husbandry practices.

Responsibilities

Maintain a working, professional relationship with contract producers.
Inspect farms for compliance with contractual grower agreements.
Follow company safety policies and established biosecurity guidelines.
Maintain selected rodent programs.
Draw blood and collect tissue samples according to local, state, and federal guidelines; handle poultry blood-borne pathogens.
Monitor farm conditions and uphold animal welfare practices.
Monitor bird health and communicate findings to the Broiler Manager.
Work with management and service technicians to plan schedules.
Perform water and spray vaccinations.
Keep detailed flock records.
Adapt to sudden program changes resulting from weather, disasters, disease, and other circumstances.
Understand and support best management practices.
Attend mandatory classroom training.
Maintain a company vehicle and schedule needed maintenance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
