About The Position

Manages and advises contract growers on company objectives, production practices, and acceptable industry animal production methods. This role involves instructing new growers, managing changes in production practices for broilers, and relaying grower problems to management. The supervisor will also communicate and manage flock catch schedules and chick placements, calculate and order final feed, and manage bird health by ordering treatments. Additionally, they will estimate market size bird weights weekly, record and report mortality, maintain a daily travel log, and provide information on broiler health issues to management. The position requires participation in training meetings and selecting broilers for surveys, as well as assisting the company veterinarian with post-mortem examinations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages and advises contract growers on company objectives, production practices, and acceptable industry animal production methods.
  • Manages and instructs new growers on growing chickens according to company objectives and production practices.
  • Manages and advises growers with existing changing production practices for broilers.
  • Relays all grower problems to the Regional Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Communicates to growers and manages the flock catch schedule.
  • Communicates to growers and manages the chick placement.
  • Calculates and orders all final feed.
  • Manages and evaluates bird health, including ordering treatments for flocks (probiotics, vitamins, minerals).
  • Estimates market size bird weights weekly.
  • Records and reports seven-day mortality.
  • Maintains a daily travel log.
  • Provides information to Regional Manager and Assistant Manager about all broiler health problems.
  • Participates and contributes in Supervisor training meetings.
  • Selects broilers for coccidiosis surveys.
  • Assists the company veterinarian in post mortem examinations.
