Broadcast Systems Technician
About The Position
WMUR, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH has an opening for a Broadcast Systems Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting both broadcast and IT systems that keep our stations on the air and operating at a high level. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new systems, and working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You will work across a wide range of technologies including networking, servers, broadcast equipment, and live production systems. This position reports to the Engineering Director.
Requirements
- This role participates in a structured, rotating schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. The rotation is designed to provide balanced coverage while ensuring exposure to all aspects of station operations.
- Experience with managed network switches and IP-based systems.
- Supporting servers, workstations, and network infrastructure
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment and production environments
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, and LAN environments
- Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, or similar certifications
- SBE certification
- Military or technical training background

Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast and IT systems to ensure reliable daily operations
- Execute and improve preventative maintenance programs
- Provide technical support to News, Production, Creative Services, Sales, and Administration
- Support live broadcasts and remote productions, including setup and troubleshooting
- Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment, servers, and workstations
- Travel as needed to transmitter sites, remote locations, and live event venues
- Document systems, workflows, and technical procedures
- Collaborate closely with engineering and IT team members to support station operations and new technology deployments
