About The Position

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is hiring a part-time Broadcast Production Assistant to join its production crew. The role supports live broadcasts and post-production, including operating the teleprompter, and helps ensure successful broadcasts. The position requires a flexible schedule and in-person attendance. It reports to the News Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.
• Must be a member of International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.) Local #3 or be willing to join by paying the required initiation fee and monthly dues to maintain employment.
• In-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Move and handle props and sets during productions.
• Construct, maintain, install, and operate props, cameras, teleprompters, sets, and other production equipment.
• Prepare lighting and scripts for newscasts.
• Maintain the appearance of studios, including cleaning sets and floors.
• Climb ladders to change light bulbs and adjust fixtures on the grid.
• Assist the directors.
• Operate the teleprompter for live broadcasts and post-production.
