About The Position

The Milwaukee Bucks are seeking a Broadcast Engineer to support the broadcast facilities, hardware, software, and infrastructure of Fiserv Forum and Deer District. The Broadcast Engineer will also support in-house video control room, audio infrastructure, and oversee maintenance of Fiserv Forum A/V equipment. The Broadcast Engineer interacts with and supports in-house TV production team, external truck broadcast crews and teams, NBA broadcast partners, Marquette University, and various entertainment acts. The Broadcast Engineer is a full-time employee of the Broadcast and Live Events team and reports to the Senior Director, Production & Live Events.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience in related area.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in broadcast/production as a technician, video equipment technician, or engineer position.
  • Knowledge of digital logic, circuits, signals and currents.
  • Ability to solder, work with various power and hand tools.
  • Must be able to deal with complex, detailed workload.
  • Must have strong service orientation.
  • Must have strong communication skills that allow for working with individuals of varying levels of familiarity with these systems.
  • There is some lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs.) required of this position. Work on ladders, under raised floors and in the presence of electronics will be required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed given the nature of the sports and entertainment business.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works with operations on productions - setting up, breaking down and fixing cameras, cables, and switchers. Establishing and maintaining transmission links.
  • Coordinates repair of equipment with outside vendors.
  • Documents and maintains equipment maintenance history database and generates status reports for both users and supervisors.
  • Fabricates cables and small part modifications.
  • Maintains equipment center and repair workshop, spare parts inventory, tools, and storage areas.
  • Assess and recommend appropriate solutions including vendor repair, in-house repair or equipment replacement.
  • Routinely review broadcast equipment, software, workstations, and develop and carry out regular maintenance schedule that will reduce damage and loss due to everyday wear and tear.
  • Works closely with management and peers to develop proficiency resolving engineering and equipment issues.
  • Quickly isolate and solve engineering and equipment issues in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Solve and repair electronics at the component level. Read, interpret and update station drawings, flow charts and cable run lists.
  • Develop workaround to keep systems running and multi-channel network on air.
  • Take direction well and be able to work with vendor support to resolve issues.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
