About The Position

Great Plains Communications is seeking an experienced Broadband Technician in the KEARNEY, NE area. This role is responsible for the installation and repair of Internet, phone, and TV services for both business and residential customers, utilizing fiber optic systems. The technician will also be expected to promote company products and services and ensure an excellent customer experience. Requirements

Experience with fiber optics
Ability to operate a bucket truck
Ability to install/repair internet and phone services
Ability to interpret staking sheets maps and work orders
Ability to complete staking sheets and completion notices
Ability to drive GPC vehicles daily and possess valid driver’s license
Ability to operate computer daily
Ability to splice cable
Ability to work non-standard hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to travel for work or training as necessary (minimal)
Ability to be subject to call outs when needed after normal working hours
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
Knowledge of basic electronics
Knowledge of testing equipment, ex. EXFO Light meter, and volt ohm meters
Fiber optic fusion splicer abilities
Provisioning abilities
Understanding of installation and repair, business and residential
Ability to interpret staking sheets, maps, work orders, cable counts, etc.
Typing skills
Trouble shooting skills
Valid driver’s license
Communication skills - written and verbal
Customer relations skills
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of repair and installation of Internet/High Speed services
High school graduate or equivalent
1-7 Years of experience
