About The Position

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (GoodwillSR) is seeking a GED Instructor to manage a classroom effectively and enhance student learning. The role involves teaching all GED test areas: reading and language arts, writing, social studies, science, and math. The BRIDGE GED Instructor will implement diverse instructional methods, including group and individual instruction and computer programs, and plan lessons and curriculum tailored to culturally diverse and multi-skilled students. The position requires creating a supportive learning environment, monitoring student progress, and administering tests to assess learning gains and identify areas for improvement. The instructor will also teach skills to enhance academic performance, such as study strategies, note-taking, and test-taking approaches.

Requirements

Level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate degree
Minimum 3 years of work-related experience
Ability to use a variety of audio-visual equipment

Responsibilities

Implement various instructional delivery methods that include group or individualized instruction and computer programs
Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skilled students
Create a climate that encourages and supports learning
Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor students’ performance
Administer post-TABE and practice tests to identify level gains, individual progress, and areas of improvement
Responsible for teaching the GED test areas (reading and language arts, writing, social studies, science, and math)
Teach skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills, and approaches to answering test questions
