About The Position

The Brewing Assistant is a part-time (24 hrs/wk) position whose primary responsibilities are cleaning, brewing, and organizing within the Cold Coffee Department of Dark Matter Coffee. There may be miscellaneous tasks involved with assisting other back-of-house departments. Ideal candidates would have interest or experience working in a kitchen/brewery environment. The Brewing Assistant position is a part-time hourly position with a starting hourly rate of $17.00/hr. After 90 days, employees are eligible for comprehensive health insurance, including medical, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, STD/LTD, and voluntary life insurance. Responsibilities

  • Using brewing equipment in the approved format to produce coffee cold products
  • Using proper equipment to pump and transfer brewed coffee to storage vessels
  • Execute Daily pars for production of iced coffee (retail/canning/wholesale keg count plus backups)
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and procedures
  • Pooling liquid, stains or other unsightly messes must be cleaned throughout the day
  • Regular cleaning of all kegs brewing & packaging equipment, brite tanks and our workspace
  • Taking pH readings of cleaning chemical tanks every kegwashing run, as well as weekly draining and replenishing of tanks
  • Works diligently to foster a safe work space for self and co-workers
  • Adheres to SOPs
  • Appropriate safety attire is worn (steel toe boots, goggles, back braces, etc)
  • Changing wear parts on kegs
  • Helping baristas troubleshoot draft issues
  • Miscellaneous part replacement delegated by the Brewing Manager
  • Alert QC manager when anomalies occur with products
  • Daily interaction with the production log (entering batch data, recording allocated kegs and account information, etc.)
  • Taking can seam measurements at the beginning of every canning run
