About The Position

The Breeder Technician will work with and solve grower problems, establishing a good working relationship between producers and the Company. This role provides current science as directed by the Company to maximize farm production, advises producers regarding building and equipment specifications, and guides them on litter manipulation and farm sanitation. The position involves routinely visiting farms, requiring frequent travel, and properly documenting bird comfort, flock management, and equipment settings. The technician will direct light and feed schedules, monitor bird health, egg production, body weight, conformation, and feed consumption, and promptly pull blood and fat samples. This role effectively coordinates bird placements to farms and assists with catch schedules, ensuring effective communication between Hatchery, Feedmill, vaccination crews, and Livehaul as it pertains to the contract. The Breeder Technician ensures the producer and company comply with the production contract to produce flocks of the highest quality and lowest cost, ensuring good performance. Additionally, the role ensures USDA and other government regulations are effectively followed when handling poultry. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age
Ability to work proactively, unsupervised, and be self-motivated
Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character
Basic math functions and skills

Nice To Haves

College (minimum 2 years), prefer bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or a similar field, or commensurate field experience

Responsibilities
