Breast Feeding Peer Counselor

We are a private, not-for-profit organization that coordinates public health grants across a 26-county region in central Pennsylvania. We are seeking to hire a part-time Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to support the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program. This position will primarily serve pregnant and breastfeeding clients at the Tapestry of Health WIC office in Lewistown. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing basic breastfeeding information and support to clients and help them prevent and handle common breastfeeding problems.
Requirements
- Previous breastfeeding experience is required (does not have to be currently breastfeeding)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to work independently or in conjunction with other staff
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals effectively and tactfully in both verbal and written forms
- Regular local travel within the region is required
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH)
- FBI Criminal Record Check, from fingerprinting
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance (PACA)
