Breast Feeding Peer Counselor

We are a private, not-for-profit organization that coordinates public health grants across a 26-county region in central Pennsylvania. We are seeking two part-time Breastfeeding Peer Counselors to support the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program. These positions will primarily serve pregnant and breastfeeding clients at Tapestry of Health WIC offices in Bloomsburg, Shamokin, or Shamokin Dam. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing basic breastfeeding information and support to clients and help them prevent and handle common breastfeeding problems.
Requirements
- Previous breastfeeding experience is required (does not have to be currently breastfeeding)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to work independently or in conjunction with other staff
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals effectively and tactfully in both verbal and written forms
- Regular local travel within the region (primarily between Bloomsburg, Shamokin, and Shamokin Dam) is required
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH)
- FBI Criminal Record Check, from fingerprinting
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance (PACA)
