About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Prepares various breakfast foods for the Hy-Vee Market Grille, including hot and cold foods and heat-and-eat varieties. The Breakfast Cook is responsible for prepping ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, a growth mindset, and a results-oriented approach.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • High school or equivalent experience.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to do simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
  • Ability to write identifying information.
  • Ability to request supplies orally or in writing.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
  • Prepares various breakfast foods, including hot and cold items.
  • Preps a variety of ingredients and assembles dishes according to recipes and specifications.
  • Prepares cooking surfaces.
  • Prepares vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods.
  • Places food in hot cases, monitors amounts, and refills as necessary.
  • Prepares items for upcoming shifts.
  • Ensures understanding of all aspects of the kitchen.
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
  • Ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Is knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take guest orders.
  • Provides direct customer service when necessary.
  • Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs.
  • Assists in other areas of store as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Benefits

  • Hourly starting wage of $17.00 to $21.25 depending on experience.
