About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Prepares various breakfast foods for the Hy-Vee Market Grille, including hot foods, cold foods, and heat-and-eat varieties. The Breakfast Cook is responsible for prepping ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. This role emphasizes a helpful and engaged approach to supporting customers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
  • Ability to write identifying information.
  • Ability to request supplies orally or in writing.
  • High school or equivalent experience.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.

Responsibilities

  • Preps a variety of ingredients and assembles dishes according to recipes.
  • Refills food items in hot cases as necessary.
  • Prepares items for upcoming shifts.
  • Ensures understanding of all aspects of the kitchen.
  • Maintains proper sanitation procedures and keeps the work area clean and neat.
  • Adheres to department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress.
  • Reports to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Is knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take guest orders.
  • Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs.
  • Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
