About The Position

The Breakfast Cook reports to the Chef and is responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, consistency, and variety of breakfast is served on time to clients. This role involves preparing and cooking breakfast according to requirements and company standards. This posting is intended to build a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities, with applications reviewed on an ongoing basis. The position is safety-sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing. It involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with provided meals, accommodations, travel from Edmonton Airport, private rooms, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a gym, and common areas.

Requirements

  • Previous experience providing a hot breakfast service in high volumes is required.
  • Current Food Safe certificate is required.
  • Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Health Assessment is required.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders or stairs.
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time.
  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
  • Perform work with arms at full length.
  • Work with arms above shoulder height.

Nice To Haves

  • Large-scale cooking experience in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset.
  • Red Seal or other certifications is an asset.
  • Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories.
  • Experience with producing baked goods (scratch baking and/or pre-fab items) is an asset.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare breakfast menu as approved by Chef.
  • Prepare a fruit bar for breakfast as stated in the fruit for breakfast list.
  • Prepare breakfast sandwiches with bacon, ham, or sausage and egg.
  • Cook eggs to order as requested by client.
  • Prepare vegetables and any meats for an omelet bar.
  • Have breakfast specials (e.g., Blueberry pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Waffles, crepes).
  • Prepare RTE Containers from leftover products for the lunchroom.
  • Set up and take down steam table.
  • Assist with the clean-up including garbage and floors in the kitchen.
  • Clean and sanitize all work areas including work surfaces and equipment.
  • Assist with putting away groceries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cooler and stock area.
  • Provide professional, courteous guest service at all times.
  • Check and document temperatures of coolers and freezers.
  • Cook breakfast items from scratch as required.
  • Mix and cook pancakes.
  • Prepare all breakfast ingredients.
  • Prepare breakfast items such as sausages & bacon.
  • Ensure breakfast menu and quantity are prepared as per Chef requirements.
  • Serve at the breakfast line and provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Responsible for overall food presentation and portioning.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room and overall kitchen.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations and quality standards are maintained, including dating all items.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Chef.
