About The Position

Sage Hospitality Group is looking for a Breakfast Attendant to join the Food & Beverage Team at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Bethesda. This role involves overseeing breakfast service for guests, ensuring a quality dining experience with high food quality standards and excellent guest satisfaction. The position requires preparing food and beverages, maintaining clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas, and contributing to a positive and engaging work environment within a team focused on learning and development.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar position of 3 months or longer.
  • High school graduate level mathematical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of ordering procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of safe food handling processes.
  • Past experience in dealing directly with the public.
  • General knowledge of basic customer service skills.
  • Competent in oral and written English.
  • Vision ability to read written communications and handle paperwork processing.
  • Ability to lift trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc. weighing 20-40 lbs.
  • Ability to push carts, Queen Marys, hotboxes, portable bars weighing 50-100 lbs.
  • Ability to carry trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc. using both hands at 20-40 lbs.
  • Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items, and balance/carry trays.
  • Ability to bend to lower cabinets and lift trays.
  • Mobility to maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests.
  • Continuous standing required (100% of the time scheduled).
  • Ability to climb approximately 12 steps (20% of 8 hours).
  • Moderate comprehension and literacy to read records and special requests.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations.
  • Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare breakfast food and beverage items and set out all hot and cold food items following all food safety regulations.
  • Replenish all food and beverage items during the meal period, ensuring items are fully stocked and kept at safe temperatures.
  • Keep all tables bussed and cleaned throughout breakfast and happy hour, ensuring the dining area is clean and vacuumed.
  • Receive and unpack items from food vendors, dating and packing them according to safety standards using FIFO.
  • Greet guests, assist with service, and replenish coffee as time permits.
  • Build rapport with guests, solve problems, and report any complaints or issues to management.
  • Learn about hotel guests by gathering information through conversations.
  • Pass on sales leads obtained during guest discussions to management.
  • Create and maintain a pleasant presentation for breakfast.
  • Maintain a clean breakfast area, store food, and remove trash as needed.
  • Look for cost-effective ways to improve breakfast appeal.
  • Assist in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
