About The Position

Amentum is hiring a Breadboard Test Engineer to perform physical validation of software and hardware functionality at major program milestones. The role supports automotive electrical design verification, development and production validation, certification, and homologation testing. It coordinates electrical breadboard builds, manages software configurations and test systems, and works with engineering, operations, purchasing, and program teams to deliver testing and sign-off milestones on time and against established acceptance criteria. The engineer determines program content affecting electrical design verification, assesses technology and test complexity, and develops plans for the breadboards and test cases needed at each milestone. The role includes preparing test documentation, setting up design verification systems, executing tests, tracking and resolving issues, communicating feature and test status, and maintaining simulator hardware and software models. The position also contributes to improving test methods, efficiency, and automation, while supporting compliance testing and witness testing as required.

  • Experience in program management, ensuring components and systems are developed according to official product development systems.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with mechanics, engineers, technicians, technologists, and suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office products, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project, and SharePoint sites.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for simulation.
  • Experience with VISION ATI, Vehicle Spy, and Wireshark.
  • Ability to use related Ford systems, including AVBOM, ELMS, CPARS, FEDE, GIPRS, Global Integrator, SPROUT, Teamcenter, VSEM, WERS, and GPDS program timing.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule to cover workload peaks, including flexible weekday hours and weekend work.
  • High energy and initiative, with the ability and desire to take responsibility and deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical validation of software and hardware functionality at major program milestones.
  • Drive pre-test readiness, troubleshoot Design Verification (DV) issues, and provide requirement assessment documentation.
  • Coordinate FDJ electrical breadboard builds, identify vehicle specifications, and generate bills of material for required electrical components.
  • Coordinate ordering of electrical parts with purchasing teams and manage delivery timing.
  • Coordinate electrical FDJ breadboard construction with operations and high-voltage teams in the electrical laboratory.
  • Create electrical systems test plans based on vehicle feature content.
  • Manage ECU software configuration, maintenance, and testing on breadboards in support of milestone delivery.
  • Execute validation testing for each new software and hardware release and meet DV efficiency objectives.
  • Determine program content impacting electrical DV; identify new technology, required test time, and complexity drivers; and analyze the number of breadboards needed for testing by milestone.
  • Establish electrical DV plans and configure electronic Design Verification System, JIRA, Testrail, and FEDE according to those plans.
  • Create pre-test documentation, including documentation in ELMS and SPROUT.
  • Ensure appropriate test direction for DV, FMVSS, and ECE, and as needed, development and Production Validation testing.
  • Manage software implementation on FDJ breadboards, communicate DV plans using D&V Charts, identify and establish root causes, and drive robust software-code solutions.
  • Communicate issues using JIRA and D&V Charts, and communicate feature and system functionality with the DCV Build team to support quality builds.
  • Communicate feature testing status in management meetings to support successful DCV drivable-unit build events.
  • Manage software implementation and software levels on DCV Signoff breadboards to support robust testing and requested capability delivery, as directed by the FSSIV Systems team.
  • Resolve or elevate issues that jeopardize PEC/FEC sign-off milestones.
  • Understand and suggest revisions to procedures and requirements, and assess compliance for areas of responsibility.
  • Assess electrical DV sign-off requirements on time and provide appropriate data to the appropriate test-data repository.
  • Support certification and development testing for type approval and homologation, develop test documentation, and support witness testing.
