About The Position

An instrument repair technician repairs musical instruments in a timely and proficient manner so they are returned to customers in good playing order. The role may focus on one instrument type or cover multiple types. This specialist cleans and repairs instruments, provides repair estimates, and completes work within estimated cost and timeframes while maintaining excellent quality. Work includes customer-owned and retail instruments ranging from student to professional level. The technician may also assist with repair clinics, school events, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Apprenticeship or a diploma from an accredited repair school.
• At least 6 years of experience working on musical instruments daily is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 years of daily musical instrument repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and repair at least one instrument type, such as brass, woodwind, orchestral, or percussion instruments.
• Provide estimates for instrument repairs.
• Complete repair work within estimated cost and timeframes.
• Repair customer-owned and retail instruments, from student-level to professional instruments.
• Perform work at an hourly rate in excess of the shop's hourly rate while maintaining excellent quality.
• Assist at repair clinics or school events and perform other duties as assigned.
