About The Position

Join the important work of supporting Wyoming’s agricultural community as a Brand Inspector Contractor with the Wyoming Livestock Board. In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting livestock ownership and maintaining the integrity of Wyoming’s livestock industry. You will assist with brand inspection services, including completing and issuing official certificates for livestock, wool, pelts, hides, and carcasses, ensuring compliance with Wyoming Statutes 11-20-201 et seq. and Wyoming Livestock Board requirements. Your attention to detail will help ensure accurate ownership verification, while your professionalism will support strong relationships with local producers. This position also includes collecting fees and maintaining thorough, accurate records to support accountability and transparency. Working primarily in Buffalo and Johnson County area, you’ll have the opportunity to connect directly with producers and be part of a vital, community-focused industry. Requirements

• Knowledge of the livestock industry.
• Knowledge of safe livestock handling techniques.
• Knowledge of basic recordkeeping and accounting skills.
• Knowledge of State livestock laws, animal health laws, and Wyoming Livestock Board rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of livestock inspection programs.
• Skill in oral and written communications with the public.
• Ability to embrace new technologies as the agency moves forward with integrated computerization.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the production of livestock
• Experience in a state agricultural inspection and/or regulatory program.

Responsibilities

• Physically inspect livestock, wool, pelts, hides, or carcasses for brands and ownership as provided in Wyoming Statute.
• Complete and issue all necessary documents as provided in Wyoming Statutes 11-20-201 et seq., including but not limited to certificates of inspection and clearance.
• Act as an agent of the Wyoming Livestock Board regarding any additional assigned duties in the areas of Animal Health, Animal identification or tracebacks, Animal Welfare, Public Safety, Law Enforcement assistance, or other related duties as provided by Wyoming Statute and agency rules, regulations, and orders, and any other duties as assigned by the agency.
• Collect and account for all applicable Brand Inspection, Beef Council, or Predatory Animal Control fees.
• Be responsible for the upkeep and keeping an accurate inventory of all agency-issued equipment, forms, documents, and tools and will be responsible for an annual inventory log of issued items.
• Attend orientation and training sessions to keep current with laws, rules, and technology used in performing duties.
• Keep informed of and comply with all applicable state laws, rules, and regulations, and Agency policies and procedures, if any, governing brand inspection or other statutorily assigned duties in the performance of this contract.
• Submit all related fees, certificates, and reports to the Agency promptly and within established guidelines.
• Keep daily timesheets of their duties and be subject to an annual work performance review.
