About The Position

Bastion is seeking a Brand and Communications Lead to establish its presence and make the company known. Despite having proven product-market fit with enterprise clients, a regulated trust charter, and a robust platform, Bastion's visibility outside its existing network is limited. This role is crucial for changing that by shaping brand positioning, ensuring consistent messaging and visual alignment, and driving external communications efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in fintech or financial services, as regulatory nuance and institutional credibility are vital in this space. This position is based in New York City, offering a hybrid but flexible work environment. While anticipated to be a full-time role, opportunities for contractors will also be considered.

Requirements

  • Experience in fintech or financial services is a meaningful advantage.
  • Ability to learn the business, product, regulatory positioning, and competitive landscape quickly.
  • Ability to audit the press and events landscape and identify key publications, conferences, podcasts, and thought leadership venues.
  • Ability to start building relationships or reconnect with relevant reporters and editors.
  • Ability to partner with the Commercial team to understand sales cycles and buyer objections.
  • Ability to operate and ship work in the first week.
  • Ability to establish a consistent, recognizable brand voice.
  • Ability to build and execute a brand activation strategy.
  • Ability to prep executives for speaking opportunities, panels, and media interviews.
  • Ability to launch targeted campaigns.
  • Ability to establish an employer brand cadence.
  • Ability to scale earned media presence.
  • Ability to develop communications launch plans for new products and partnerships.
  • Ability to develop a scalable content and communications production workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and guide brand positioning, ensuring consistent messaging and visual alignment across all touch points.
  • Own earning press coverage.
  • Prepare executives for panels and media interviews.
  • Navigate conference floors through relationship building.
  • Run targeted campaigns for decision-makers, ensuring connection to pipeline.
  • Learn the business, absorb the brand, and start showing up in the first 30 days.
  • Ship something in week one (e.g., update a landing page, draft a LinkedIn post, pitch a reporter).
  • Establish Bastion's brand voice and ensure consistency across website, LinkedIn, executive communications, and external content.
  • Build and execute a brand activation strategy, leveraging media relationships to pitch stories and secure press placements.
  • Prep Bastion executives for speaking opportunities, panels, and media interviews.
  • Launch targeted campaigns aimed at enterprise decision-makers.
  • Establish an employer brand cadence.
  • Scale earned media presence to a steady cadence of press coverage, bylines, and thought leadership.
  • Develop communications launch plans for new products and partnerships.
  • Develop a scalable content and communications production workflow using AI tooling and contractor support.
  • Build the case for future growth of the function (e.g., PR agency, event support, content contractors, additional hires).
  • Work closely with agency partners, proactively manage budgets, and ensure delivery of brand work.
