About The Position

Iron Road Logistics is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL A Rollback Driver to support Crownstone Equipment’s Frederick, Maryland location, with additional support for the Hagerstown location as needed. This position primarily handles the safe and efficient transportation of equipment between company locations, customers, jobsites, and other designated locations. When not actively transporting equipment, this position will support Crownstone’s daily lot operations, assisting with equipment loading and unloading, preparation, cleaning, inspections, rental check-ins and check-outs, and general lot organization. This position is intended to provide dedicated transportation support to Crownstone while also helping maintain efficient branch operations when transportation duties are not scheduled.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A required.
  • Current DOT Medical Card required.
  • Clean and acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and equipment securement requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other equipment used in lot operations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise perform the physical requirements associated with equipment transportation and lot operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting the branch team.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Experience operating rollback trucks and/or transporting heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience loading, securing, and transporting construction or agricultural equipment preferred.
  • Experience transporting heavy equipment, construction equipment, or agricultural equipment.
  • Experience with rollback trucks, flatbeds, lowboys, or equipment trailers.
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience with basic equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Bobcat®, Toro®, Stihl®, Echo®, or similar equipment.
  • Previous dealership, rental, construction, landscaping, or equipment industry experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company rollback trucks and other CDL-required vehicles to transport equipment.
  • Transport equipment between Crownstone locations, customers, jobsites, auctions, and other designated locations.
  • Safely load, position, secure, transport, and unload equipment and attachments.
  • Use appropriate chains, binders, straps, ramps, and other securement equipment.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Ensure loads comply with applicable size, weight, securement, routing, and other DOT requirements.
  • Maintain required driver logs, inspection records, delivery documentation, and other DOT paperwork.
  • Retain and submit fuel, toll, delivery, and other required receipts.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and company personnel regarding delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Assist customers with equipment loading and unloading when appropriate and within company safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and professional company vehicle and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient equipment lot when not driving.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment for sales, rentals, service, and transportation.
  • Clean, detail, and prepare heavy equipment, construction machinery, and attachments.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment and report any issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Assist with rental check-ins and check-outs, including using the designated tablet to capture required photos.
  • Operate forklifts, handling carts, and related equipment safely.
  • Use pressure washers and cleaning tools in accordance with company procedures.
  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and basic maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Keep lot areas, runoff pits, and property areas clear of debris and trash.
  • Assist with general lot and property upkeep as needed.
  • Support the Lot Coordinator and branch team with daily equipment flow and organization.
  • Assist with other branch operational needs when transportation duties are not scheduled.
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when representing Crownstone Equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with branch managers, service personnel, rental personnel, customers, and other company teams.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, medical cards, and driving qualifications.
  • Report accidents, incidents, equipment damage, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
