Requirements

  • Post secondary education in electrical/business
  • 5+ years experience in the electrical distribution industry

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and solving problems at the branch level.
  • Assisting with Purchasing, maintaining inventory levels, order desk and counter.
  • Instructing and advising staff as required.
  • Dealing with customer questions and concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Dealing with employee questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensuring all Gerrie documented procedures are adhered to.
  • Informing Manager of any problems immediately.
  • Handling all aspects of the branch as required when the manager is absent.
  • Preparing and issuing purchase orders.
  • Providing feedback on market conditions.
  • Reviewing and ensuring backorders are filled.
  • Transferring material from other branches as required.
  • Dealing with vendors in a professional manner.
  • Reviewing count variances and either investigating or approving an investigation.
  • Reviewing insight levels and providing feedback to Branch Manager and Central Purchasing Manager.
  • Reviewing stock regularly for damage and obsolescence.
  • Reviewing branch defective stock, watching for repetitive trends, and controlling the Head Office defective returns.
  • Providing price, stock and delivery information as required.
  • Handling customer orders as required.
  • Treating customers in a professional manner, with a positive attitude, and providing good customer service.
  • Expediting orders, when necessary, to maintain a high level of Customer Service.
  • Ensuring staff adhere to the Gerrie commitment of “Quality Service”.
  • Providing technical and process assistance to all order desk and counter staff assigned to their branch.
  • Ensuring company specials are promoted by the order desk and counter and fully displayed.
  • Ensuring Counter displays are neat, organized and current.
  • Assisting Manager with the preparation of annual planning and budgeting.
  • Calling on assigned accounts.
  • Exploring avenues where the potential to increase sales exists.
  • Informing customers of specials and promotions.
  • In the absence of a manager, will be the Quality Representative for the branch.
  • Ensuring the criteria in the “Branch Inspection Report” are adhered to and following up when not in compliance.
  • Ensuring charting is complete and accurate.
  • Promoting the company in a positive manner.
  • Not playing one vendor off against the other.
  • Maintaining scheduled appointments and seeing vendors at the scheduled appointment time.
  • Maintaining and developing strong vendor relationships.
  • Developing a working understanding of the company's customers and suppliers and maintaining a professional image within all interactions.
  • Working with other departments as required, conveying a professional corporate image that represents the values of Gerrie Electric.
  • Meeting and exceeding set objectives and department goals and ensuring timely completion of all extra tasks as assigned.
  • Assisting/ensuring the overall smooth operation of all functions within the branch.
  • Ensuring all credits are entered in a prompt manner and are initialed.
  • Ensuring daily deposits are made and cash submittal form is initialed.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of any/all extra tasks as assigned by Branch Manager or the Executive.
  • Entering, maintaining, controlling and reviewing contracts and special pricing agreements.
  • Preparing, organizing and controlling projects/quotations and direct shipments.
  • Preparing staff time sheets or cards in the absence of the manager.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Recommending creative solutions to various issues that may arise.
  • Participating in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining and participating in professional networks to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Participating on committees and special projects as requested.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding and adhering to ISO policies and procedures.
