About The Position

The Branch Officer - Loan Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the lending operations within a financial institution's branch. This position is responsible for assisting loan officers in processing loan applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the loan lifecycle. The role requires close collaboration with clients to gather necessary information, answer inquiries, and provide guidance on loan products and procedures. By efficiently managing administrative tasks and facilitating communication between clients and loan officers, the Loan Assistant helps to expedite loan approvals and enhance customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this position contributes to the branch’s financial performance by supporting the delivery of high-quality loan services and maintaining strong client relationships.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in finance, business, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a financial services environment, preferably in loan processing or customer service.
  • Basic understanding of loan products, lending procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using loan processing software and standard office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills are used daily to interact with clients and internal teams, providing clear and professional assistance throughout the loan application process.
  • Organizational and detail-oriented skills help maintain accurate records and prevent errors that could delay approvals or cause compliance issues.
  • Proficiency with loan processing software and office tools supports the timely preparation and review of loan files.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a bank or credit union loan department.
  • Familiarity with credit analysis and underwriting principles.
  • Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA).
  • Customer service certification or training.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and lending regulations enhance the ability to support loan officers more effectively and contribute to risk management and customer satisfaction.
