About The Position

The Branch Manager leads Credit Union 1's (CU1) branch operations and team performance to deliver exceptional member experiences while supporting CU1's growth and success. This role fosters a positive, high-performing environment through coaching, development, and accountability, ensuring employees have the support and resources needed to thrive. The Branch Manager oversees lending activities, maintains operational excellence and compliance, and takes ownership of resolving member and employee concerns with integrity and timely follow-up. This position is located at our South Anchorage Branch (8935 Old Seward Hwy,.)

Requirements

  • Must be high school graduate or equivalent, with some college-level course work in related areas desirable.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience and/or two years of experience working in a financial institution is required.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements associated with negotiating financial instruments.
  • Must be able to handle member and employee matters in a professional, tactful and confidential manner.
  • Must have the ability to effectively supervise, motivate and lead branch team to consistently attain sales and service goals and to comply with various organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Must have sound judgment, excellent communication skills with members, credit union employees, executive management and the public.
  • Must be able to negotiate, solve problems and make effective decisions.
  • Must project a positive sales mindset and proactively evaluate and present credit union products and services that best meet a person’s financial needs.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Candidates selected for a position at Credit Union 1 will be subject to a criminal background check prior to their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically implement credit union goals and objectives consistent with Credit Union 1’s mission and core values. Responsible for maintaining quality service and controlling costs.
  • Conduct ongoing training, coaching, and observations to enhance team performance. Demonstrate effective use of this process with all member interactions.
  • Analyze and assess branch operations, security, growth and services. Inform the Director of Branch Operations of any findings in order that timely and informed action may be taken.
  • Oversee scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to build a motivated, high-performing team capable of meeting short and long term credit union goals and objectives.
  • Promote growth of the branch, its loans and deposits, and achieve the elements of the branch plans.
  • Manage the maintenance, security and safety of the branch. Open and close the branch as needed. Follow operational procedures for opening and closing the branch.
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of branch functions as needed.
  • Prepare and process all documents and proceeds for approved loans, maintaining all loan documents through closing in an orderly, accurate manner.
  • Promote growth of branch employee skills by observing, coaching and providing feedback on their interactions and techniques with branch staff in service, culture, loans and other job duties.
  • Responsible for appearance of branch to include teller line, lobby, parking lot and general cleanliness. Ensure correct brochures and other marketing material is displayed timely. Ensure monthly and quarterly branch checklists are completed.
  • Project a positive attitude with members and employees consistent with Credit Union 1’s mission and core values in order to maintain and contribute to a high level of member service.
  • Adhere to the credit union’s dress code policy and enforces this policy throughout the branch.
  • Community service is required for all management staff. While some may occur during work hours with the permission of the Director of Branch Operations, some may also occur outside of normal working hours. Community service is defined as serving on a non-profit board of directors, volunteer participation in fundraisers for social services and participation in other social services events. In addition, attendance at management mandated events will be required.
  • Responsible for department’s participation in every aspect of the Record Retention program. This includes the creation, identification, use, storage and destruction in accordance with the policy. Meets the current standards as established for the department or branch in the completion of all assigned duties.
