About The Position

The purpose of the Branch Intern role at the Company is to provide upcoming graduates with immersive, hands-on learning experience in the facets of our distribution center’s culture, service, sales, and operations, with a focus on the distribution of roofing materials and building commodities. Specifically, the intern will participate in daily operations, engage in customer service, perform tasks related to product handling, and shadow sales meetings, more efficiently nurturing their profound developmental knowledge in Business, Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales or Management to potentially join the Company's full-time Management Trainee Program post-graduation. The successful candidate is expected to exhibit exemplary work ethics, teamwork, leadership, and academic performance, and is dedicated to committing over 10 weeks on-site, sharing their project insights with company executives during their program culmination, showcasing their improved industrial distribution skills, advanced business strategies, heightened organization and time management capabilities, and their increased aptitude for this line of profession.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a degree program relevant to our business, such as Business, Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, or Management.
  • Expected graduation within 2 semesters following the completion of the internship.
  • A proven track record of notable work experience, involvement in teams, and leadership positions in school and/or work.
  • Strong references validating exceptional work ethic and conduct.
  • Willingness to be engaged in a full-time, hands-on internship for a period of 10-12 weeks between May and August
  • Eagerness to learn and work in a distribution center environment, with potential interest in full-time employment after graduation.
  • Availability for a 3-day visit to corporate headquarters to present a mission-critical project to executives.
  • Ability and readiness to perform physical tasks include lifting building materials occasionally.
  • Proficient computer skills, strategic thinking abilities, excellent communication skills, solid organizational skills, and strong time management capabilities.
  • Possession of a valid driving license, reliable transportation, a satisfactory driving record, with the ability to pass a criminal and driving background check as well as a pre-employment drug test.
  • Authorization to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Finance, or related field.
  • Previous experience in an internship, leadership role, or relevant position.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with warehouse management software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative team mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding or experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Existing knowledge of building materials, specifically roofing materials, is an advantage.
  • Display of drive, initiative, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other warehouse machinery is a plus.
  • Candidates who are eligible to work in the US without sponsorship, can satisfy a pre-employment drug test, and possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the daily operations of a high-profile, multi-million-dollar distribution center under the guidance of the Branch Manager and his team.
  • Master all the key functions of the distribution center, including receiving product, moving product within the warehouse, loading trucks, dispatch, delivery, customer service via phone, order entry, and shadowing an experienced Territory Manager for outside sales.
  • Lead crucial projects of strategic importance, with expected outcomes presented to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to internal growth through intensive learning and engagement in a 10 to 12-week internship, possibly leading to a full-time position in the Company's Management Trainee Program post-graduation.
  • Commit to a corporate visit for a three-day period, during which the intern should present their project outcomes to the senior leadership team.
  • Be prepared to contribute in a physical capacity such as occasional lifting of building materials, showcasing a balance of physical prowess and intellectual acumen.
  • Utilize strong computer proficiency, strategic thinking, exceptional organizational and time management skills in driving increased efficiency and impact.
  • Ensure legal work authorization without need for sponsorship, hold a valid driver’s license, maintain an excellent driving record, and pass background checks and a pre-employment drug test as an assurance of legal and safety compliance.
