About The Position

Operates a brake press machine to bend or cut metal according to specifications. This role requires the ability to independently determine proper dies, setups, gauges, and ram stroke adjustments for various parts without relying on work instructions. The operator will also be responsible for writing part programs and work instructions once setups are established. The position involves using precision measuring tools and proceeding with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Ability to determine proper dies, setups of dies, setup of gauges, and adjustment of ram stroke to from all types of parts to proper angle and length without the use of work instruction.
Ability to determine forming sequence of multiple hit parts without the use of work instruction.
Capable of writing work instruction once part setup has been established.
Use vernier, protractor, indicator, radii gauges, etc.
Proceed with minimum supervision and instruction.

Responsibilities

Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.
Fastens clamp bar that holds dies in position.
Writes part programs and stores them in the machine.
Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints.
Positions workpiece manually or with a crane.
Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal.
Verifies dimensions of workpiece and makes adjustments if necessary.
Determines proper dies, setups of dies, setup of gauges, and adjustment of ram stroke to form all types of parts to proper angle and length without the use of work instruction.
Determines forming sequence of multiple hit parts without the use of work instruction.
Writes work instruction once part setup has been established.
Uses vernier, protractor, indicator, radii gauges, etc.
Proceeds with minimum supervision and instruction.
