SMI - Brake Press Operator 2
About The Position
The Brake Press Operator performs machine operation with moderate independence. This role includes basic machine setup, interpreting complex drawings, and maintaining consistent production quality. The operator will operate press brake machines to produce parts according to prints and specifications, perform basic machine setups including tooling changes and material adjustments, and read and interpret blueprints and bend diagrams. Quality checks using precision measuring tools will be performed, and machine parameters will be adjusted to maintain part quality. The role also involves troubleshooting minor machine or forming issues, maintaining production efficiency and quality standards, assisting with training Level C operators, and following preventative maintenance procedures.
Requirements
- Strong ability to read blueprints and bend sequences.
- Knowledge of press brake tooling and forming methods.
- Experience with measuring equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic forming issues.
- Strong understanding of shop safety practices.
- 2–4 years press brake or sheet metal fabrication experience.
