Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible. The opportunity We are currently looking to fill Brain Injury Support Worker (Rehabilitation)/Personal Support Worker in the Supportive Housing Program, Flexible schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, overnights (sleep/awake), weekends and holidays. Hours: This position is various hours per week up to 30hrs. Starting wage: $19.63 per hour

Requirements

Minimum of three years experience in Human Services field and/or working with people with ABI.
Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Sound behavioral management skills, cognitive problem-solving skills.
Proven teamwork abilities
Working knowledge of ABI and rehabilitation
Ability to effectively deal with behavioral situations
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours

Nice To Haves

Post-Secondary preferred in Human and Social Services
Current CARE, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and CPR, First Aid an asset

Responsibilities

Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures: Personal care, Lifts and Transfers, Rising/retiring, Bowel and bladder procedures, Meal preparation and feeding, Range of motion exercises, Other light housekeeping duties.
Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
Reporting responsibilities (incident reports, behavioral data collection and verbal reports)
Participate in any required training.
Follow policies and procedures as required.
Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community to adults with an Acquired Brain Injury with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.
Communicate with consumer, family, and team members.
To provide services on a flexible basis including evenings and weekends.
