About The Position

Avondale School District is seeking a Head Varsity Boys Football Coach for Avondale High School. The coach will be responsible for instructing high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of football, while also instilling moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. This role involves leading and organizing all aspects of the football program, developing student-athletes both on and off the field, and fostering a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success. The coach will also ensure player safety, coordinate offseason programs, and manage equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching football.
  • Experience or plan of building a K-12 football program.
  • Knowledge/experience scheduling practices and off-season workouts.
  • Ability to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport.
  • Knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of football.
  • Instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence in athletes.
  • Lead, organize, and supervise all aspects of the football program.
  • Oversee all aspects of the high school football program, including player development, staff supervision, practice organization, and coordination with lower-level programs.
  • Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
  • Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
  • Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
  • Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs.
  • Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.
  • Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department.
  • Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to the team at all times.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Maintain professional competence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
