About The Position

This position serves as the Boys Varsity Head Baseball Coach, overseeing all aspects of the program including player development, game strategies, and team leadership. The coach is responsible for tryouts, practices, and games, and must possess a strong knowledge of the game, including management, rules, and effective training program execution. A key aspect of the role is to motivate and mentor student-athletes, fostering their individual and team success, as well as their moral development, pride, social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The coach will promote teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development, while ensuring the safety and well-being of all student-athletes. This role requires cooperation with the School Athletic Director and District Athletic Department, adherence to all mandated requirements from the District Board of Education, OHSAA, and ODE, and monitoring of academic eligibility for student-athletes. The coach must follow District Athletic Department Policies, model expected behavior, maintain suitable sideline conduct, and be open to constructive criticism. Awareness and implementation of administrative policies from various educational bodies are essential. The coach will provide training rules, follow due process for violations, participate in professional development, and assist in opponent preparation. Additionally, maintaining equipment inventory is required.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of Baseball rules, techniques, and strategies.
Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
Have the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

Nice To Haves

Fundraising experience.
Previous experience coaching Baseball preferred.
Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the Boys Baseball Program including player development, game strategies, and team leadership.
Serve as the Boys Varsity Head Baseball Coach.
Oversee all tryouts, practices, and games.
Develop and execute an effective training program.
Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the Field.
Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for pertinent information and/or periodically required.
Meet all the requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/ Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season.
Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
Assist in ensuring that team is well-prepared for opponents.
Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
