The Bush SchoolSeattle, WA
Onsite

About The Position

Join one of the premier high school golf programs in Washington. The Bush School is seeking a Varsity Assistant Coach to help build on the success of a program that is coming off a State Championship and back-to-back Emerald Sound Conference titles. With a talented roster of returning athletes and a strong culture centered on excellence, growth, and sportsmanship, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a thriving and competitive program. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s goals towards building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. We believe that a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are necessary to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and families; we encourage diversity in our applicant pool. The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls, the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant to determine options that best suit each student-athlete’s journey. Whether helping experienced players compete at the highest level or supporting the development of emerging talent, the Varsity Assistant Coach plays a vital role in sustaining the standard of excellence that defines Bush Golf. Working alongside a long-tenured Head Coach and multiple-time Coach of the Year recipient, the Boys Varsity Assistant Coach helps plan and lead practices, coach competitions, and transport student-athletes to off-campus practices and contests using a school vehicle. The Assistant Coach plays an important role in supporting the development of student-athletes throughout the season while contributing to a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented team culture. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director. The season begins on Monday, August 24, 2026, and continues through mid-October. Practices are held Monday through Friday between 3:45 and 6:30 p.m. (no longer than two hours per day) at local golf courses and The Bush School campus. Coaches generally meet their athletes at Bush, travel together to the practice or contest site, and return to campus at the end of the day. There is the possibility of being retained on the coaching staff for the spring playoff season, which begins in mid-April and concludes with the State Championship in late May.
