About The Position

The Boys Program Coordinator is a highly visible role across the entire organization and, due to the historic success of the program, across the country. The Boys Program Coordinator will work directly with the Executive Director and play a leadership role in helping to manage the athletic and academic initiatives associated with all Boys students connected to the Riverside Hawks program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Energetic with strong personal commitment to the mission of the program and the educational advancement of underserved youth.
  • Possesses creative and strategic thinking skills that enable a demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, prioritize and implement projects.
  • Excellent oral and written presentations skills, detailed oriented and the ability to convey our program mission and goals persuasively.
  • Ability to work with senior program leaders and different internal and external constituents to ensure compliance with safety protocols and policies and procedures applicable to the program and the successful implementation of all initiatives related to the Boys programs and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee athletic activities of all Boys middle school and high school teams.
  • Meet regularly with student athletes and their families to discuss their individual development and goals.
  • Recruit and review coaches and work with coaches to manage tryouts and recruit players to program.
  • Work with all coaches to ensure basketball certifications are completed and maintained and all coaches are managing team responsibilities appropriately and appropriate communication with students and families is regularly provided.
  • Ensure that all coaches provide consistent athletic instruction, including coaching, and acting as assistant coach for teams, as needed.
  • Work with Executive Director and Director of Operations and Programs to develop appropriate tournament selection and travel schedule (as applicable) for all teams.
  • Work with Community Program Director and Director of Operations on Boys focused community-based basketball training and development programs for Middle School and High School Boys.
  • Extend the reach of our academic programs to all of our student athletes on our Boys middle school, travel and Academy teams.
  • Provide high school (catholic, public and prep (day and boarding)) and college guidance and application assistance.
  • Coordinate participation in our test prep courses (i.e. SSAT, SAT, ACT, TACHS, etc) and homework assistance, tutoring and writing programs.
  • Coordinate group and individual high school, college and cultural institution visits, as well as participation in our other Riverside College Bound activities, such as monthly seminars and workshops.
  • Support Riverside’s relationships with our education partners, such as Inspiring Young Minds.
  • Provide regular periodic reports to parents regarding the student athletes’ educational progress and opportunities.
  • Ensure report cards are submitted by all students.
  • Meet with coaches, student and parents to ensure students are taking advantage of academic offerings and are attending tutoring as and when necessary.
  • Work with Director of Operations to ensure fundraising efforts are successful and team fee collections and expenses are in line with budget and that tournament payments and travel expense reimbursements are submitted timely.
  • Work with boys coaching staff to ensure all compliance related paperwork is submitted and there is full participation in all health and safety protocol trainings and special events (including gala, shootathon, alumni visits etc) and community focused athletic and academic programs.
