About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation to ensure all students graduate high school ready for college and career. The district serves approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12 across 35 schools and programs. Successful SCSD educators are passionately committed to urban education, believe all students can learn at high levels, and are dedicated to closing the achievement gap. This position is for a Boys Modified Volleyball Assistant Coach at Nottingham for the Spring 2026 season. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. The modified program (grades 7-8) focuses on skill development and participation, not winning, and encourages large team numbers. It stresses discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication to the value that hard work will produce rewards, preparing young student athletes for higher level high school competition. At the high school level, the focus is on developing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Requirements

  • New York State Coaching Certification
  • Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
  • Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
  • Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
  • Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
  • Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
  • Fingerprint Clearance
  • School District Recommendation
  • Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Responsibilities
