About The Position

Southbridge Public Schools is hiring a Boys JV Basketball Coach for the 2026–2027 school year. The coach is accountable for the entire program and oversees its activities, including athlete safety and athletic-equipment inventory. The role emphasizes academics before athletics, student eligibility, sportsmanship, athlete development, and positive relationships with the community. The coach reports to the Athletic Director.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior coaching experience in a college, high school, or recognized and successful program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including the safety and inventory of athletic equipment.
• Communicate with the Athletic Director about incidents involving student athletes and parental concerns.
• Promote academics before athletics by monitoring academic performance and enforcing eligibility.
• Provide all student athletes the opportunity to compete while promoting sportsmanship.
• Build positive relationships with the community to promote the sport.
• Demonstrate the skills, drills, and fundamentals of basketball.
• Manage and inventory program equipment.
• Attend all weekend activities.
• Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and during activities and events.
• Attend coaching meetings as assigned.
• Evaluate student athletes’ progress.
• Assist with fundraising and promote community support and awareness.
• Set scrimmage, game, and practice schedules for the program.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
