About The Position

Lake Forest High School is seeking a JV Assistant Boys Basketball Coach. Under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach, the coach assists the Head Coach with organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching in alignment with the LFHS mission and Athletic Department philosophy. The coach provides effective instruction and assists with program management, promotes a positive learning environment for student-athletes, and emphasizes educational-based athletics as a top priority. The coach supervises boys participating in the LFHS basketball program and serves as an ethical, professional, positive role model.

Requirements

For an IHSA sport, hold a current Illinois Teaching Certificate registered in Lake County, an ASEP (American Sport Education Program) certificate, or have completed an approved NFHS coaching certification program.
Maintain current AED/CPR certification.
Meet all IHSA coaching certification annual requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Coach with organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach.
Provide effective instruction and assist with basketball program management.
Create, support, and manage meaningful experiences for student-athletes.
Promote a positive learning environment and emphasize educational-based athletics.
Supervise and oversee boys participating in the basketball program, including active supervision during team events and transit.
Communicate and enforce clear expectations for athlete conduct and accountability.
Interact and communicate effectively, professionally, and transparently with parents, staff, and students.
Make rational, sound decisions under stressful conditions.
Follow school policies, district regulations, and the LFHS Athletic Code of Conduct.
Demonstrate ethics, professionalism, and positive role modeling.
