Responsible for all aspects of the Athletic program for their respective sport. This includes implementing and interpreting existing system and State and NMAA regulations, adhering to the athletic policy handbook, and providing strong leadership for assistants and athletes. The coach will advise the activities director, ensure proper safeguards for equipment and sites, and assist with scheduling, transportation, and tournament requirements. They are responsible for fulfilling state and system requirements regarding athlete eligibility, maintaining discipline, and fostering a positive team environment. The role involves developing fundamental coaching philosophies, organizing staff meetings and clinics, and presenting information to the media. Additionally, the coach promotes the sport within the school and community, determines student discipline, monitors athlete grades and conduct, and assists athletes with college or advanced educational selections. The coach also directs student managers and statisticians, completes injury reports, provides training rules, and ensures the safety and well-being of participants during practices, games, and travel. They are accountable for equipment, including its issuance, storage, and inventory, and must maintain confidentiality and accurate records. Reporting to work on time and working evenings/weekends are expected, as is attempting to de-escalate concerns from students, parents, and staff.
