The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer Sports Camps (Boys & Girls Cross Country). This Youth Sports Summer Program is a strategic investment in student wellness, safety, equity, and achievement. The program aims to keep youth active and safe during the summer, supporting the district's mission to educate the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. It is designed for Utica City School District students in grades 4-12 and will run during July and August 2026 with exact daytime hours to be determined. The program features a diverse range of sports including Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball, Swimming, Track & Field, Lacrosse, Tennis, Cheerleading, Wrestling, Golf, Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball. This program addresses distinct challenges faced by urban communities, such as limited access to safe recreational outlets, increased youth vulnerability, and a lack of structured summer programs. It promotes health and fitness through varied sports options, offers a safe and structured summer alternative, builds critical life skills and character, encourages academic and career exploration, increases equity and opportunity by offering less traditionally accessible sports like lacrosse, and strengthens community and family ties through events and partnerships.
