WHS Boys Freshman Basketball Coach
About The Position
The Boys Freshman Basketball Coach's function is to carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Head Coach. This role involves instructing athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach will assist the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to tournaments and special events, and is responsible for the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to scheduled facilities. The coach must provide documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility. Additionally, the coach is responsible for providing proper safeguards for the maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites, and for providing training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete. The coach's presence at all practices, games, and while traveling provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant. This role also directs student managers and statisticians and determines discipline, delineating procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. The coach will also contact parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
Requirements
- Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
- Has taken a course workshop or has proof of competency in first aid.
- Has a certificate or completion of a class in CPR.
Nice To Haves
- Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
- Previous coaching experience in assigned sports is desirable.
