About The Position

This is an Assistant Coach I Paraprofessional Position for the 26-27 MNHHS Boys Basketball team. The salary is $2250 and the position reports to the Head Coach. The scope of responsibilities includes assisting coaches in various secondary school athletic programs. Representative duties involve assisting in daily and long-range athletic activities, planning the athletic program, conducting learning experiences with small groups of student athletes, guiding participants toward team spirit, and providing supervision during team travel. The assistant coach will also recommend equipment purchases, utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), perform other assigned non-coaching duties, maintain attendance, adhere to the professional code of ethics, and utilize technology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
  • Successful completion of criminal record check
  • Must follow all KHSAA coaching requirements
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities
  • Assist coaches in planning the athletic program
  • Conduct learning experiences, under the direction of the head coaches, with small groups of student athletes
  • Assist coaches in guiding participants toward a harmonious team spirit
  • Assist in providing escort assistance, and supervision to athletes during periods of team travel
  • Recommend to the head coach the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes
  • Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as outlined at the school/district
  • Perform other non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Adheres to the professional code of ethics
  • Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function
