About The Position

Assist coaches in various secondary school athletic programs. The role involves assisting coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities, planning the athletic program, and conducting learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of head coaches. The Assistant Coach will also guide participants toward a harmonious team spirit, provide escort assistance and supervision to athletes during periods of team travel, and recommend equipment, supplies, and uniforms for student athlete health, safety, and welfare. Non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach are also part of the role, with an emphasis on punctual and regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Fundamentals of various sports.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work confidentially with discretion.
  • Any combination equivalent to: a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
  • Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • AIDS awareness training.
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR.

  • Recommend to the head coach the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.
  • Perform other non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach.
  • Punctual and regular attendance.
