About The Position

This position is for a Freshmen Assistant Coach for Boy's Track & Field for the 2026-2027 season. The coach will be responsible for teaching fundamental and advanced techniques of pole vaulting, fostering positive behavior, sportsmanship, and educational values among student-athletes, and adhering to coaching codes of conduct. The role requires prior experience in the sport and preferred experience working with youth. The coaching stipend is paid out according to a schedule based on the season (Fall, Winter, Spring).

Requirements

  • Looking for Pole Vault Coach.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques applicable to the sport.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate behavior, character development, sportsmanship, and educational values for student-athletes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Coaches Code of Conduct.
  • Prior experience in the sport is required
  • Required Sport-Specific Certifications: Football: NFHS Football Tackling Certification. Cheer: NFHS Cheer Safety Certification.
  • Must disclose a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, state special school and diagnostic center operated by the department of education, and private school that the applicant has previously been an employee of, including full-time, part-time, or substitute roles.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance

Responsibilities

  • Understand that academics are priority
  • Be alert to your student-athletes' academic performance
  • Develop team rules and expectations and communicate these with team & parents
  • Provide schedules for practices, tournaments and games
  • Communicate change in season schedule in a timely manner
  • Be on time and come prepared for all practices and games
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance
  • Encourage all student-athletes to do their best
  • Apply all school and team rules to all student-athletes equally
  • Be professional in all actions and words
  • Create a positive environment for the team
  • Communicate with individual student-athletes as to their role on the team
  • Clearly communicate all NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, Conference, and team rules to student-athletes and parents
  • Return parent phone calls/emails in a timely manner
  • Communicate with parents as soon as possible regarding any injuries to a student-athlete in the absence of an athletic trainer
  • Explain vacation/absence policy
  • Allow student-athletes time away from practice to make-up tests due to athletic competition or to attend tutoring
  • Off-campus walk-on coaches must turn in their keys in order to get paid
  • All coaches must get permission from their Athletic Director to use district facilities out of season
  • Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results/stats
  • Input Schedule into Arbiter, if required by sport assignor
  • Adhere to CIF Dead Period of your sport during the summer
