About The Position

This position is for a Varsity Head Coach for Boy's Soccer for the 2026-2027 season. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of fundamental and advanced skills and techniques of the sport. The coach will be responsible for teaching, enforcing, advocating for, and modeling appropriate behavior, character development, sportsmanship, and educational values for student-athletes. Adherence to the NFHS Coaches Code of Conduct and CIF Coaches Code of Conduct is mandatory. Prior experience in the sport is required, and experience working with youth is preferred. Specific sport-related certifications may be required depending on the sport (e.g., Lifeguarding for Water Polo/Swimming & Diving, NFHS Football Tackling Certification for Football, NFHS Cheer Safety Certification for Cheer). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, fingerprinting, physical exam, tuberculosis screening, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. Requirements

• Prior experience in the sport is required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques applicable to the sport.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate behavior, character development, sportsmanship, and educational values for student-athletes.
• Demonstrate the ability to follow the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Coaches Code of Conduct.
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance.
• Disclose a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, state special school and diagnostic center operated by the department of education, and private school that the applicant has previously been an employee of, including full-time, part-time, or substitute roles (effective January 1, 2026).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques applicable to the sport.
• Teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate behavior, character development, sportsmanship, and educational values for student-athletes.
• Follow the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Coaches Code of Conduct.
• Understand that academics are priority.
• Be alert to your student-athletes' academic performance.
• Develop team rules and expectations and communicate these with team & parents.
• Provide schedules for practices, tournaments and games.
• Communicate change in season schedule in a timely manner.
• Be on time and come prepared for all practices and games.
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance.
• Encourage all student-athletes to do their best.
• Apply all school and team rules to all student-athletes equally.
• Be professional in all actions and words.
• Create a positive environment for the team.
• Communicate with individual student-athletes as to their role on the team.
• Clearly communicate all NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, Conference, and team rules to student-athletes and parents.
• Return parent phone calls/emails in a timely manner.
• Communicate with parents as soon as possible regarding any injuries to a student-athlete in the absence of an athletic trainer.
• Explain vacation/absence policy.
• Allow student-athletes time away from practice to make-up tests due to athletic competition or to attend tutoring.
• Turn in keys in order to get paid (off-campus walk-on coaches).
• Get permission from their Athletic Director to use district facilities out of season.
• Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results/stats.
• Input Schedule into Arbiter, if required by sport assignor.
• Adhere to CIF Dead Period of your sport during the summer.

• Athletic Coaching stipend is paid out according to the schedule below: Fall Coaching: October - November - December (+CIF bonus if applicable) Winter Coaching: January - February - March (+ CIF bonus if applicable ) Spring Coaching: April - May - June (+CIF bonus if applicable )
