About The Position

The City of Chino is seeking a Part-time Boxing Trainer to join their Community Services, Parks & Recreation Department. This role involves training and coaching youth and adult participants in boxing, teaching proper techniques, conditioning, and safe training practices. The trainer will lead classes, practices, and workouts, fostering a positive and disciplined environment that promotes sportsmanship and personal growth. Responsibilities also include coordinating program activities, monitoring participant safety, and maintaining equipment and facilities. This position is scheduled for 18-22 hours per week, primarily Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, with potential for additional weekend hours for program events.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a boxing training participant or coaching a boxing program.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a valid USA Boxing Coach Certification issued by USA Boxing to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a valid First Aid, AED, CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogens certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Mobility to work in indoor and outdoor boxing facilities; stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform physical activities associated with boxing instruction and program supervision.
  • Operate a motor vehicle and visit various community sites.
  • Vision, hearing, and speech sufficient to monitor activities, demonstrate techniques, communicate with participants, and ensure a safe training environment.
  • Strength and stamina to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance.
  • Work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to loud noise, indoor and outdoor weather conditions, dust, and other recreational facility environments.
  • Availability to work evenings, Monday through Friday, and occasional weekends; some assignments may require varied shifts or alternate schedules based on program needs.
